Whole30 is done, now what?

Hey folks. It's been a while since Nia or I have written a post. The last time we wrote a post to the blog, we were doing the Whole30, which is a 30 day reset to your diet. Yesterday was the last day. I have to admit that although I was skeptical before Nia and I did the program, if you ask Nia I was downright defiant and dead set against the idea(which I was), but I saw results for both of us. I know for myself, I'm able to get a better night's sleep, my mind is clearer, I don't have the sugar crash and burn feeling and I lost between 12 and 15 pounds.

We did break one of the rules in that we couldn't have corn during the 30 days, but we had popcorn when we went to the movies while we were doing the program. It didn't affect either of us adversely so we will continue to get popcorn when we go to the movies.

We weren't supposed to weigh ourselves either or track our calorie intake during the 30 days. I broke both of those rules. Calorie tracking helped me lose 20 pounds before Nia and I ever thought of doing the Whole30 and I've been tracking my calories so I wasn't going to stop. Plus curiosity got the best of me as far as my weight went.

As far as where we go from here, we're now on a Paleo diet. I thought you'd have to rip biscuits and other bread products out of my cold dead hands, but strangely enough, I don't miss bread. Okay, as long as there's no bread in my face, I don't miss it. I know I'll need to invest some money into getting my suits and slacks taken in and probably just a new wardrobe period.

Nia was right for being concerned about the road we were headed down as far as our diet and health was concerned. I know I looked at her and acted like she lost her ever loving mind when she suggested going Paleo. She was right, I was wrong and I apologize. So if your partner/spouse/significant other suggests going Paleo, have an open mind.
